The Tunic -- Patching

Note: Review the spline exercises from the CD-ROM or consult the LightWave manual for spline patching tips.

STEP 29: Load torso19.lwo into Modeler. (If you had deleted the original spline cage long ago without saving it, you may load torso19.lwo off the CD-ROM).

STEP 30: Patch every spline boundary here with 3-by-3 patches, with Knots turned on in both Perpendicular and Parallel for every patch. For the two triangle patches in the side of the skirt, make sure the "triangles" point up, as in Figure 27, by selecting the splines of the hem last for each patch.

STEP 31: Cut and paste all the non-spline geometry you created with the Patch operations in Step 30 to an empty layer. It should look like Figure 28. Type m in this layer to Merge the overlapped points of these patches together, forming a seamless mesh.

STEP 32: Save this object as torso20.lwo.
